The homepark advantage paid off for Barros and Asp.

The crowds in São Paulo erupted yesterday as Brazilian’s Pedro Barros and Yndiara Asp took out the men’s and women’s Vans Park Series events overnight. Hitting the nation’s capital for the second stop of the series, the event brought in huge crowds of skateboarding fans, and the podium finish is evidence to the ever-growing strength of the sport in Brazil.

Barros said to the fans, “Thank you to the Brazilian crowd, for sharing the real and true energy of skateboarding. With the vibe these people bring, this is skateboarding. We’re having fun, and it’s real. We gotta keep this going.” Asp also shared, “I’m speechless. Here we have the best crowd ever. You give me the best energy, and I just want to skate the best I can for you.”

There are two stops remaining on the VPS, with Salt Lake City in Utah next up in September, which should give us plenty of time to recover from a huge night of celebrations in São Paulo. Check out all the action in the video below and gallery above:
