Oops: ‘Moonlight’ Wins Best Picture After Oscars Announce Wrong Winner

It’s infamously happened on Australia’s Next Top Model and Miss Universe, and now the Oscars have become the latest to announce a wrong winner at their 2017 ceremony.

Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway originally announced La La Land as the winner instead of Moonlight for the highly coveted ‘Best Picture’ award. According to Pitchfork:

“La La Land was initially declared the winner after Warren Beatty was given the incorrect cue card. Halfway through the La La Land cast and crew’s acceptance speech, they were interrupted and Moonlightwas declared the winner.”

This marked the third award that Moonlight took out on the night, with Mahershala Ali winning ‘Best Supporting Actor’ and the film also being crowned ‘Best Adapted Screenplay.’ You can watch it all unfold below, very awkwardly:
