Watch: Trailer For ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Is Actually Pretty Sweet
Back to basics.

The new Ghostbusters may be the first sequel/rehash we’ve been keen for.

Having just dropped overnight, the first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife is looking more than promising, with the story seemingly straying away from the old “getting the band back together” Hollywood tropes. Jason Reitman, whose father Ivan directed the first two, has written and directed the film, so we actually have highish* hopes for it.

Set in small-town America, which contrasts with the original films’ (and Paul Feig’s 2016 remake’s) New York setting, we meet a cast of youngsters played by Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace who stumble across a ghost trap, opening up the old memories of the original GBs. The original cast including Sigourney Weaver, Billy Murray and Dan Akroyd all appear in the film, though not in this trailer, which gives us hope that it won’t be a two-hour greatest hits parade.

*Highish is massive for a sequel.
