COMMS 001.

Finding inspiration in local brands such as Pseushi and Acid Reign, friends Jarra Vlasto and Fergus Locke are exploring a new wave of graphic prints with the launch of their own brand CommsOn the brand’s opportunistic inception, Jarra says, We started out because Fergus let me know he’d seen a post in a Facebook group called Sydney Beer Economy advertising a box of 50 blank AS Colour T-shirts for a six pack of Coopers Green. Naturally, we rushed to Dan Murphy’s and locked in the trade. We put in $200 each and got a run of shirts printed using those blanks with two different designs that both said ‘communication’.”

Apart from the guy who should have asked for Coopers Red, everyone’s a winner in what is potentially the most Inner West brand story since milk crates and ‘cheers mate’ started appearing first on reusable green bags and later tote bags in roughly 2014. Following this foray into fashion design and the relative success of that friends and family release, Fergus and Jarra decided to put out a more refined collection under the abbreviated name Comms. All available for purchase on Friday, the first drop features three graphic tees and an event-exclusive tee designed by Mitch Viney. As well as showing off the new collection, a very enticing, Comms curated selection of artists and DJs will be performing on the night.
