Here’s what went down on the set of Channel Tres’ latest clip.

Don’t know about you, but one of the biggest disappointments this year for us at LWA was the cancellation of Groovin The Moo 2020. It meant we’d miss out on catching our LA pal Channel Tres, having been blown away him at last year’s Splendour. Bloody devo’d, but at least he’s been busy working on new music for our earholes, making up for the fact we probably won’t be able to catch him in the flesh for a while.

Dropping over the weekend was his brand new track and video, ‘Weedman’. Here he locks into a fitting more mellow groove than usual, incorporating shades of g-funk as opposed to the more EDM influenced sounds of his self-titled debut EP. As usual Channel’s ever-smooth vocals mean there’s no chance you’ll be coughing when you take a huge draw on this one.

Lyrically the song refers to the days where you couldn’t buy weed on every corner and had to hit up your ‘weedman’ to get on, which In Australia, we just call them weekdays… “It’s basically a song detailing my life at a certain time… It was hard to get weed and now there’s dispensaries everywhere,” the LA-based dance commander says.

The clip is fucking rad too. Directed by Anthony Sylvester and shot on 35mm, there’s a grainy vintage feel as Channel and co get their smoke and dance on in a prop-filled house. Check it out below along with a collection of exclusive BTS from the shoot as captured by Zita Laura Szasz, and don’t forget to give the track some love so we can get him back Down Under again soon!
