Who do you think would win?

With the COVID-19 pandemic bringing the music and entertainment industries to a screeching halt, artists and stars have been flexing those creative muscles to continue to deliver engaging content to their fans. Ranging from Instagram lives, quarantine sets and everything in between, artists are doing all they can to stay relevant in these trying times.

Perhaps one of the coolest things to come out of it in the rap world is Timbaland and Swizz Beats’ VERZUS Instagram Live, which had been pitting some of the biggest names in hip-hop against each other to battle it out by playing their biggest hits.

It’s been a huge success, and is the perfect medium for some of hip-hops finest to go head to head. Luckily for us, we might be getting that rather soon, as DMX called out JAY-Z to battle him in a recent interview, and we’re convinced this needs to happen.

This wasn’t out of nowhere, as the pair have quite the history, having a famed freestyle battle in New York in the early 90s, teaming up for the Hard Knock Life Tour in 1999, and trading shots in the 2000s when DMX dissed Jay’s tenure as president of Def Jam.

Safe to say we’re very much hoping this happens to see these two legends go at it one more time. But for now, check out footage of their first rap battle in the 90s.
