Like your birthday falling on a long-weekend, Vök are giving fans two reasons to celebrate with the release of their new album In The Dark and a music video for ‘Erase You’.

In The Dark is Vök’s first full-length project since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Figure in 2017. The highly anticipated follow up comes after the slow-release of a quartet of album singles which have already racked up nearly 2M plays on Spotify. The eleven-track album was recorded between London and Reykjavík studios and is a splicing of the trio’s indie, electronic and pop sensibilities. The at times euphoric record also has darker undertones with lyrics that delve into feelings of fear, disappointment and hopelessness.

Vök drummer, Einar Stef said: “You can seem pretty happy on the surface but once you start going deeper you’re going to see how dark things can be. It’s a bit of therapy for us.”

And it can be therapeutic for listeners too. ‘Erase You’ explores the emotions of wanting to escape a relationship, and the subsequent feelings of resentment we sometimes feel for someone after that bond is broken. The track is complemented by sepia soaked visuals that act as an added reminder of the tainted lenses through which we can all be guilty of seeing our past relationships.

Check out the video below, and be sure to give the album a listen over the weekend.
