The former White Stripes front man teases us with four-minute video titled ‘Servings & Portions From My Boarding House Reach.’

Jack White has always been a master at forming visual accompaniments to musical endeavours he’s involved in. Whether it be the iconic red/white/black costumes of The White Stripes, the Southern troubadour look of The Raconteurs, or his fascination with gothic imagery we see evolving today, it’s clear that White places importance on how music is both heard and viewed.

The ‘Servings & Portions From My Boarding House Reach’ video released on YouTube features a collage of music that spans over many genres – some of which we wouldn’t normally associate with man that Keith Richards described as the best modern guitarist – including snippets of hip-hop, electronica and industrial sounds as well as his trademark heavy blues and acoustic folk. And, if we’re not mistaken, a little slice of Australia’s very own C.W. Stoneking.

Flashing, sliding and creeping into the video are images from studio sessions, a bunch of weird hand stuff and a colour palette that could only be described as… blue, very blue. It sure makes for some mystifying viewing, but let’s hope it means there’s a new album (and maybe a cheeky Oz tour?!) on the way:
