When you first hear Little May, it takes you to a happy other world in the sky. Well it did for me. Whenever I need a little escape, a soothing of the soul I am sure to play this talented trio.

So when I learnt of a debut EP release coming from Little May on the 10th of October, I got oh so warm and fuzzy inside. Heres a little history of Little May if you are new to this new infectious band.

A year ago they uploaded their first independent single ‘Boardwalks’ to Soundcloud. Their sound travelled quickly through the digital world – online magazines clamored to share the song and community radio eagerly slotted it into their playlists – all off the back of buzzing word of mouth. The hypnotic follow-up ‘Hide’ topped the Hype Machine chart, garnered them triple j airplay and flew into the number one spot on the AirlT charts.

They then went on to covet spots on the Splendour in the Grass and Laneway line-ups – their third single, ‘Dust’ continues their musical story, as a band who offers timeless; magnetic songs, executed by musicians with maturity beyond their years.

I hear the EP itself is a celebration of the triumphs of Little May. Alongside tracks that include the haunting ‘Dust’, the bittersweet charm of ‘Boardwalks’ and the infectious melodies of ‘Hide’, the band debut two yet unheard and closely-guarded tracks, ‘Midnight Hour’ and ‘Bones’. Stripped back and moody, We will be soothed by steely sweet vocals against delicate strums of acoustic guitar, while the choral harmonies delivers the slow-burning hooks that have become a trademark Little May.

As we wait eagerly await the debut, enjoy my favourite track.
