Sydney duo Polish Club are bringing a brass section along for two special shows (because why the fuck not?)

It never hurts to spice things up every now and then. At least that’s the idea behind Sydney soul-rockers Polish Club’s latest venture, with the lads deciding that their live show could use a little extra boost – the type of boost that can only come a from a brass section that includes trumpets, saxes and a sousaphone (don’t worry, I had to google that one too).

Hitting the Corner in Melbourne and The Factory in Sydney this July, the shows, which have been aptly been titled ‘The Polish Club With Horns’ are something the guys have always been fascinated with. “I’m a sucker for a brass ensemble or a string ensemble and one of them makes a lot more sense than the other,” singer-guitarist David Novak says.

They will be joined by folk four-piece All Our Exes Live In Texas as well as mysterious top-40 cover band Polka Club which features drummer JH’s Dad on accordion. “It’s kind of an excuse for us to play pop songs that we couldn’t pull off ourselves,” JH says. “Think Bruno Mars, Beyonce and other platinum sellers begging for a shot of polka grunt.”

You’d better get yourself along to one of these shows as it might be your only chance to see the collaboration you didn’t know you needed. “We haven’t done this before and we probably won’t do it again. So listen, even if it’s terrible, it will be notable,” Novak says. Tickets and info here
