South-West Sydney’s Freesouls are back with a point to prove in their latest offering, the Modern Day Slaves EP.

Earlier this month, Freesouls embraced a darker sound with their single ‘Voodoo Child,’ along with a video littered with flames, occult symbols and horrorcore aesthetic. It’s a theme which continues on in their Modern Day Slaves EP, which drops today – and it’s no coincidence that it’s been revealed to the world on April 20th. Over a bed of hazy and eerie beats, the group discuss “the state in which we are all living today, especially the Freesouls.”

“As we are all growing up getting older and wiser, we’ve come to realise that the spiritual and positive path gets harder and harder each day. We hope to one day reach enlightenment, at the moment we are all going through the hardships of the monetary systems, forcing most of us to rely on material happiness.”

While Freesouls may be exploring new sonic paths with their latest material, you can rest assured that they still bring enough bars and original flavour to keep their day one fans happy. You can listen to Modern Day Slaves in full below, and you can catch Freesouls launching the whole project with a hometown show at The Chippendale Hotel on Friday, May 4th.

Also playing the show will be Blacktown’s own Elijah Yo, with Freesouls also making a cameo in his recent video for ‘West Coast Party.‘ It’s a family affair and a free show – scroll down for the details and head on over:
