In case it wasn’t obvious from the name, MTV Beats & Eats looks to combine tasty food and danceable tunes at their festival hitting Wollongong come November 18.

Taking over sunny Stuart Park, the event features one stage surrounded by dozens of food trucks serving sizeable snacks and street eats. They’ve now announced their first round of acts for the 2017 event, and leading the charge is Tkay Maidza. Having just wrapped up a mammoth tour with RL Grime, she’ll be hitting the MTV stage to provide her energetic and irresistible blend of rap, dance and pop, all served with that tangy Tkay twist.

ARIA Award-winning vocalist Nicole Millar will also be performing, as well as the queen of content herself, FlexMami. Yolanda Be Cool and Sachi round up the first announcement, with more acts to come.

The theme for this year’s fest is Space Fantasy – so prepare to dress up in your most other-worldly outfits. And yes, this is a costume worth putting effort into – first place will grab a cool $2000 prize, while $1000 and $500 will be given to second and third place respectively. Furthermore, $1 from every ticket purchased will go towards Headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation.
