Just when you thought all the mega-festivals in Australia were disappearing, one of the world’s biggest dance brands has announced it will be expanding Down Under in 2018.

Since its inception back in 1999 in Miami, Ultra Music Festival has expanded all over the globe – and since taking place in neighbouring Asian countries like Singapore and Indonesia, it seemed like only a matter of time before Australia’s turn. Over the weekend, it was announced at Ultra Music Festival in Miami that the expansion to Australia was official.

“We’re moving to Australia! Yes, Australia has joined the global family ladies and gentleman,” the main stage emcee proclaimed in the video below, with Australian flags adorning the screens. Now, a fresh Facebook page has stated that the festival will be arriving in 2018.

With dance mega-festivals like Stereosonic and Future Music Festival bowing out over the past few years, it will be interesting to see how an event of this magnitude will take place in Australia, and how heavily it will replicate the gargantuan production and lineups that have blessed international editions.

So who can we expect on the lineup? The first hint comes from the fact that Australian company Lucky Ent. have shared the news several times on their Facebook page – with acts like Will Sparks, Tigerlily, Tenzin and Joel Fletcher on their roster. See the video below and stay tuned for just who’ll be heading to the inaugural UMF Australia.
