Always keeping us guessing, SCK CHX have offered a new version of ‘Love You Darling’ for their latest video.

In our review of SCK CHX debut EP Downward Dog a few months ago we described ‘Love You Darling’ as an “irresistible take on the classic tunes you could imagine being spun on a jukebox in an American diner in the 50’s,” though the version we’re premiereing today is more like something you could imagine Dracula singing to one of his brides on their wedding night – and we’re super into it.

The Sydney three-piece slowed the track down to deliberately give it a creepier vibe and it’s completely changed from the upbeat pop song on the EP to a Birthday Party-esque ballad which is refreshingly rich and excessively weird, but also handy because now you can listen to either version depending on what mood you’re in.

The video which was filmed by Darsh Seneviratne, features Jay Wroe Johnson who gives a brooding performance as a fill-in frontman for the band as they perform the track in a fittingly darkened room, captured through a grainy camera lense. Have a watch, then check out the original version below and be sure catch SCK CHX performing live at The Bank with Triple One for ‘Record Fair Live’ next Saturday (info here)
