Ruby Fields grabbed heavy attention everywhere from Triple J to BBC Radio 1 with her debut single ‘I Want’ a few months back, and now we’ve received the track’s official video.

Sitting somewhere between down-to-earth relatability and anime-driven fantasy, ‘I Want’ touched on many of the qualms and concerns of being an adolescent, and the video continues to explore the duality between these themes. In line with the lyrics about being “a warrior princess” with a “katana packed in at my side,” the video features spots of Ruby in animated form, taking us into a cartoon fantasyland.

Impressively, Ruby sketched all these sections herself, proving that her talents stretch far beyond the guitar and microphone. “I’m stoked to be able to finally get this out, It was important for me to create this clip independently. It took ages to create all the drawings, but being able to do my art and music all in one video was really cool.”

Watch ‘I Want’ below and our interview with Ruby right here, while she’ll also be playing at local festivals Yours & Owls , Bigsound, Snowtunes and Sounds Of The Suburbs later this year. ‘I Want’ is also the lead single from her forthcoming debut EP. Keen for it all:
