This month will see the release of ‘Mick Rock. The Rise of David Bowie, 1972–1973′ – a mega photography book chronicling two critical years in the life of the eclectic English singer. Clocking in at 300 pages and weighing 15 pounds, it’s a mammoth edition which is a must for all die-hard fans.

According to NY Mag, the book “comes encased in a turquoise clamshell that matches Bowie’s eye shadow in its holographic cover.” With the dazzling features comes a hefty price tag, too: The book will cost $700, which means that you’ll be paying close to a rack in Australian dollars with the dismal exchange rate.

The book will feature photographs from just one man – Mick Rock, who spent his time shooting Bowie in the early seventies and capturing his most head-turning outfits, personal moments and his evolution into Ziggy Stardust. The first batch of books will consist of 1972 signed copies, and given Bowie’s extensive legacy, we’d be inclined to say that they’ll fly out the door.
