Gotta stick to the rules…

Today marks a significant day in the rolling back of COVID-19 restrictions, with numerous states around the country set to significantly ease measures across a range of fields today. The majority of states will today enter into phase two of the governments three-step plan to reboot the economy and get life back to normal, and even though each state is taking it at their own pace, it’s safe to say we’re making bloody good progress, and that it’s likely that if we keep this progress up as we enter into stage two, we could see ourself moving into stage three sooner rather than later.

For now, check the full list of restrictions lifting today across the country.

New South Wales

Today bans on intrastate travel are being lifted, so now you travel anywhere within NSW.

The capacity of restaurants, pubs and cafes will now be increased to 50 people, but will be subject to the four-square-metre rule. Along with this, bookings at a maximum of ten people will be accepted and diners must remain seated.

Beauty salons will also reopen today, being able to cater for a maximum of ten people at a time, again subjected to the four-square-metre rule.

Museums, galleries, and libraries across NSW will also reopen, with up to 20 people allowed at weddings and 50 at funerals. Places of worship will also allow 50 people at one time.

Lastly, ClubsNSW has announced that the capacity of specific venues could increase from 50 to a max of 500, adhering to the number of restaurants and cafes inside the club.

“For example, a club with two restaurants and one cafe can admit up to 150 people at any one time, on the basis of 1 person per 4sq m and on the condition that those eateries are open at all relevant times,” the statement said. “Under these arrangements, clubs can permit patrons in the bar and gaming rooms up to the venue capacity and with 1.5 metres physical distancing in all areas. Staff and contractors are not included in the capacity limit.”

Victoria

From today up to 20 people will be allowed in a home at any one time (that’s including members of the household, children and babies).

Restaurants, cafes and dining areas will be allowed to cater for 20 patrons, as long as they enforce social distancing requirements.

Art galleries, museums, libraries, zoos and other community facilities will reopen as well, with a limit of up to 20 people in each separate space.

Holiday rentals, hotels and Airbnbs will also reopen for business today, allowing for overnight stays along with caravan parks and campsites.

Places of worship will reopen for a max of 20 people per space. Along with this, weddings will permit up to 20 guests, and funerals will allow up to 50.

Beauty therapy, tanning, waxing, nail salons, spas, tattoo parlous and massage parlous will also reopen today, adhering to the 20 patron limit and significant social distancing requirements.

Lastly, skateparks and playgrounds will also reopen today, with outdoor group sport allowing a max of 20 people, with swimming pools allowing the same but with a three-person max per lane.

Queensland

Queensland is one of the states a bit further ahead in the easing of restrictions, due to it’s immense success at reducing cases. From today, Queenslanders can enjoy unlimited travel, and make overnight stays throughout the state.

Like other days, from midday cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs will be able to host 20 people.

From this Friday June 5, venues with more space will be allowed up to 20 people in each area if they follow an approved COVID Safe Industry Plan.

Western Australia

From today, residents will be allowed to travel to all parts of Western Australia, excluding Commonwealth biosecurity areas and remote Aboriginal communities. It is expected that the state will move into stage-three of easing restrictions sometime during the month, although this is yet to be confirmed.

Tasmania

Today doesn’t actually mark any repeals in restrictions for Tasmanians, with June 9 and 15 being the dates that they need to watch out for.

June 9 will see high school students from years 7 to 10 return to school.

June 15 will see Tasmians allow up to 20 people to gather in both indoor and outdoor areas such as restaurants, cinemas and museums, with funerals being allowed a max of up to 50 people.

Restrictions on people staying in hotels and caravan parks will also be lifted, so people can move around the state overnight.

Australian Capital Territory

The only real change for Canberra residents today is that they’ll be allowed to visit NSW for a holiday. It’s unclear whether the further lifting of restrictions will be announced.

South Australia

South Australia is definitely kicking COVID-19’s ass, and they’re having significant restrictions eased as a result.

From today, beauty salons, gyms and cinemas will all begin to reopen, with cinemas and theatres reopening with a max of 20 people, with the same for galleries and museums.

Beauty, nail, tattoo and massage parlous will all reopen today as well, however they’ll be required to adhere to the four-square-metre rule.

Venues will allow a max of up to 80 people, however this is only if they can have 20 people in discrete rooms or area. Pubs will also be allowed to serve drinks without a meal, however patrons must be seated.

Funerals will also allow a maximum of 50 people today, along with gyms, indoor fitness venues opening up for a max of 20 people at a time.

Non-contact sport will also start again today.
