Strong message…

Following its decision to allow NBA players to add social justice statement to their jerseys, the NBA is planning to paint “Black Lives Matter” on game courts for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season. The move is the latest effort by the league to bring attention to racial inequality, social injustice and police brutality as ensured by their new rulebook.

The mural has already been painted on numerous streets throughout the U.S., with cities such as New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland and many more sporting the phrase across their roads following the murder of George Floyd and other African-Americans at the hand of law enforcement. Now, the mural will be pained on the court in all three arenas the NBA will use for the remainder of its season. The WNBA is also considering painting the phrase on the court at the IMG Academy in Florida, when the abbreviated season begins.

The 2019-2020 season is scheduled to resume late next month in Florida, with numerous players such as Kyrie Irving suggesting a boycott so as to not divert attention from the Black Lives Matter movement. Regardless, this is a cool move by the NBA, fingers crossed the league continues these kinds of actions…
