Gonna come in very handy…

Apple is diversifying its product range and launching a stack of new products, and they all seem to serve very specific functions. One that seems to be generating the most hype however is easily the new AirTag, a small tracker of sorts that helps users keep track of everyday items like keys and phones.

The trackers work by connecting to the company’s iconic Find My app, essentially letting you keep track of anything you attach the tag to. Keys, phones, backpacks, suitcases, you name it, the AirTag can track it.

The tags were officially launched at Apple’s Spring Loaded virtual product launch yesterday and come after weeks of speculation and reports, living up to all the hype and then some as Apples next quick buck. They’re reasonably affordable too, with a pack of one going for $29 USD ($37 AUD) and a pack of four $99 USD ($128 AUD).

To give a brief insight into how it works, the AirTag connects via Bluetooth just like AirPods. And ingeniously, any item the AirTag is connected to can have its own name, so you know exactly where each of your belongings are at any one time. Once its set up however, the tag will appear in the ‘new items’ tab in Find My app, with users then being able to see its current or last known location. And due to the tags featuring a built in speaker, if an item gets lost, the tag can play a sound to help owners find their possessions.

No doubt it’s soon gonna be an essential item to have in day-to-day life and make things easier as a whole. The new AirTags are set to go on sale On Friday, April 30. Check out Apple’s introduction to them below to get an idea of just how much we might be relying on them soon.
