Almost five years since his last record, Rainbow Valley, Matt Corby has returned with his third album, Everything’s Fine.

First announced back in January, the 11-track album traverses a clear-eyed journey through inner peace and self-reflection in the face of life’s unpredictability, against a backdrop of soul, funk, hip hop and soft rock.

Working alongside producers Alex Hendrickson and Chris Collins (Gang of Youths, Middle Kids, Skegss), and writer Nat Dunn (Rita Ora, Charli XCX, Tkay Maidza), the album is accompanied by a vivid artwork illustrated by Australian artist Niqui Toldi.

Speaking on the release, Corby described: “I’m at a really beautiful point in my life. I’m accepting all this stuff: the good and the bad, but particularly the bad. Which is kind of great. It’s a good thing to come to that point.”

“Life isn’t always magical, but the moments that are, well you really value them. I think this record is about that, about managing your actual reality.”

We haven’t heard much from Corby since the release of Rainbow Valley, with only a few standalone singles released in 2019 and 2020. In the interim, he’s been stepping into the role of producer, working on the track Black Dogs! with Genesis Owusu, as well as Great Gable‘s debut album Tracing Faces and Budjerah‘s self-titled debut EP.

With the release of Everything’s Fine, it seems he’s now circling back to his own music. To accompany the album, Corby announced a national tour, also dropping a live version of Reelin’, one of the singles from the record, recorded at Karma Studios.
