Sydney Mardi Gras has released a statement following their overbooked afterparty at the Hordern Pavillion. Even though the space can only hold 5,500 people at a time, approximately 10,000 tickets to the event were sold.

With artists like Sam Smith, Dua Lipa and Kesha gracing the bill, unlucky punters were stuck in queues around the Hordern while their favourite acts took to the stage.

Angry punters wrote online about the experience, saying it was “The worst after party experience ever” and that it was “Horrific”.

Sydney Mardi Gras published a full statement on their website saying that they are “deeply disappointed” and explained why the Hordern was selected as the venue this year after they lost the Royal Hall of Industries as a venue. You can check it out here.
