Unfiltered and Volcom Women’s are once again hosting a space where creativity, surf, music and party overlap on Saturday, October 10th at Finnian’s Tavern, Port Macquarie.
Having taken over venues in Sydney, Goldy and NZ’s best mountain party town, Queenstown, Volcom’s Unfiltered series is making a name for itself as a zone where all of our favourite things – surf, skate, snow, music, art and film – come together under one roof for a night of fem-led fucking wildness.
Now Unfiltered has set its sights on Port Macquarie, next Saturday, October 10th, at Finnians for its next totally free celebration of expression.
This one is headlined by none other than free-surfing queen and Volcom team rider Jaleesa Vincent. A creative force on and off the board, Jaleesa will also be sharing her own artworks and performing with her cult garage doo-wop band Cupid & The Stupids – if you haven’t seen them play with Jaleesa tapping along in tap shoes (yes, that’s a thing), then you’re in for a bloody treat! She’ll also be showcasing her upcoming debut collection with Volcom and sharing her ‘Strange But Not A Stranger’ mini doc on the big screen.
But the fun is really only beginning there. Punk powerhouse Teenage Joans, who are fresh off a tour with Violent Soho, will be closing out the night, bringing their triple j-certified bangers such as ‘Three Leaf Clover’, ‘Wine’ and latest track ‘Coming Up From Hell’ with them.
Local legend and multi-instrumental weapon MIKK will be opening up the night on the music front, injecting some whimsical indie pop into the atmosphere.
Plus, there’ll be art from Cedar Leigh, Ellie Ryan, Fumika Saito, Lucy Juhnke and Studio Kitchi adorning the walls, giving people a chance to get an up-close look at the work from these amazing female creatives.
But wait – there’s more! Bodhi Leigh-Jones will be premiering her brand new film, BOARD TALK WITH BODHI LEIGH-JONES, shot in Indo and centred around the boards she’s shaped and the stories behind them. The boards themselves will also be on display on the night, alongside giveaways and a couple of surprises too. Do not sleep on this event! It all kicks off at 5pm – deets below.
