Party & Bullshit

There was no rest for the wicked, with a 28,000 strong crowd shaking off their NYE hangovers and heading to The Domain for Sydney’s biggest NYD festival, Field Day.

With three stages of local and international artists that jumped between hip-hop and dance confidently, Field Day provided a typically jam-packed homecoming for local legend Flume, with fellow exports like Anna Lunoe also proving that they can work their home turf. From Golden Features to Thundamentals, the Australian contingent proved especially strong and diverse in 2018.

Flying in from his NYE performance at Perth’s Origin festival with a rusty voice, ScHoolboy Q was visibly tired during his set, which fell short of his excellent appearance at Splendour In The Grass last July. From the UK, Stormzy and the ever-articular Dave proved to be highlights, while the whole event closed with English comedian (and sometimes grime artist) Big Shaq, who came onstage to perform his extensive one-song set. Still, that’s all he needed this time around. Welcome to 2018:
