It was back in 2009 that Tyshawn Jones borrowed a copy of the EA Skate videogame, and it wasn’t long before he moved onto an IRL skateboard.

The New York skater has found overwhelming success on the board, and his latest accolade is his first sneaker with adidas Skateboarding. The Pro Model Vulc ADV takes cues from some of adidas’ immortal silhouettes, including the shell toe from the Superstar and green stripes which pay homage to the Stan Smith. The sneaker also features a scaled snakeskin finish for a luxe touch – but the aesthetic choices also hold sentimental value for Jones, including an image of his late pet dog immortalised on the tongue.

“I’m super excited to have my first adidas shoe with my name attached to it. I wanted to create something that reflected my style and at the same time pay homage to my late and great dog, Nico. My first pair of adidas that I owned had snakeskin on them so I wanted to recreate that for my first colourway. Nico is featured on the tongue so he can always be remembered,’ he said.

The Pro Model Vulc ADV will be available from adidas Skateboarding and select retailers from September 5th. In the meantime, preview the pair below:
