Sources are now saying that Avicii’s cause of death was due to a self-inflicted wound leading to massive blood loss, allegedly from a broken wine bottle. The official results of the autopsy are yet to be released.

It has only been a few days since Avicii’s family released a new statement, alluding to the idea that he may have taken his own life. They claim he was still struggling after retiring from the demanding lifestyle of touring back in 2016.

An excerpt from the statement reads:

“An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer, he wanted to find peace.” 

Fans are still reeling after news broke in April that the Swedish musician had passed away at the young age of 28.  In his career Avicii had several smash hits, including the infectious Le7els and Wake Me Up, while also collaborating with industry icons such as Madonna, Major Lazer and Daft Punk.

The official autopsy report is expected to be released later this month.
