Things are going pretty well for Roddy Ricch at the moment.

He’s the hottest name in rap right now with ‘The Box’ fending off all challengers at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100; while his debut LP, Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, is sitting pretty atop the album charts. In fact, it’s the longest running #1 debut rap album on the Billboard 200 since 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin, which turned 17 years old yesterday. Feel old yet? Currently touring North America, the 21-year old Compton rapper ran into some trouble crossing the Canadian border . . . That is until he got Drizzy on the line. “Called @Drake and bro he got me into Canada,” Roddy tweeted. Just like that, hey.

It’s not the first time in recent memory that this has happened. DaBaby ran into similar trouble last year. He captioned an Instagram post: “Somebody call Drake & tell em they done had Baby hemmed up at Customs for 3 hours . . . We don’t wanna see our rap sheets we here for the #KirkTour.” Just days earlier, frequent collaborator and fellow grammy-nominated producer Jetsonmade (AKA Jetson made another 1), experienced the same difficulties until Canadian immigration officer/ Prime Minister/ travel agent/ rapper/ mogul Drake intervened. “they wasn’t tryna let me in Canada, hit Drake, & dipped in 10 minutes,” Jetsonmade tweeted.

Having made it across the border, Roddy Ricch’s victory lap of North America goes on, and although my uber rating is suffering in large-part thanks to ‘Balling’ and ‘The Box’, we’re hoping that it eventually rolls into a world tour. For now, it’s an added bonus that twitter is clapping Drake for his exploits as an advocate for rappers with Canadian border issues. Peep a few of our favourites below:
