It’s Friday. Let’s get it.

The weekend is here y’all and what better way to celebrate than with a handful of new tunes that you might have missed amongst the doom and gloom of the world… There’s a little bit of everything in this week’s five, from electro-pop to indie-rock, dig in and have a great weekend. Presented by our pals at Jim Beam.

‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ – Hayley Mary

Are you old enough to remember when this track was originally released by Britpoppers The Libertines? The track referenced the disintegration of the relationship between the band’s frontmen Carl Barat and Pete Docherty who reportedly needed to be separated by security at all times during the recording of the self-titled record. Here Hayley Mary gives the track a fresh lick of paint with her ethereal vocals and a spicy tempo shift:

‘Cold Water’ – Cut Copy

The electro powerhouses are back. This one dropped a couple of weeks back and has been on our playlist ever since. Definitely a grower.

‘Break’ – Julia Stone

This track feels a little like if Bjork moved to Ghana and started writing tunes. Recorded by Annie Clark AKA St Vincent, it’s the first taste of a larger body of work, though Stone is yet to say so far whether it’s going to be part of an LP, EP, or who knows what else.

‘Easy’ – Troye Sivan

In case you needed another reason to love Troye Sivan, check out his performance in Joel Edgerton’s Aussie-packed drama Boy Erased. Sivan kills it in the dark drama, but today he shared a new clip for ‘Easy’ which sees him getting back to what we know him for, and it’s quite the doozy. Check it:

‘Tell Me Why’ – The Kid LAROI

Fast becoming Australia’s biggest ever rap artist, The Kid LAROI is killing it right now, garnering loads of success in the US charts. Not bad for a 16-yr-old…
