Australian acts dominated triple j playlists in 2018.

As they do this time every year, triple j have rolled out their most played acts over the past 12 months, and it’s safe to say there isn’t too many surprises in there. J Award recipients Middle Kids, who take the top spot on the list following the success of their debut record Lost Friends, are followed by Sydney britpop balladeers DMA’S, and triple j favourites The Wombats who come in third place.

It was another strong year for acts with females in prominent roles, with that demographic making up 42% of the top 50 most played, whilst nearly every act on the list had released a full length at some point in the year. Though, as noted on their website, acts who had feature albums, or released their album at the start of the year had much more of a chance of making the list.
