One of Australia’s favourite dance duos has split.

Carmada – comprised of L D R U and Yahtzel – will now be continuing as a solo mission, after L D R U announced that he is leaving the group indefinitely. The news arrives on the eve of their Club Carmada tour, with L D R U stating that “the two of us have grown apart creatively and personally over the last two years” in a lengthy statement posted to their Facebook page.

Importantly, L D R U stresses that Carmada is continuing. “Max will hold the reigns of Carmada,” he writes. “We both hope you’ll still come to sweat it out with him in the clubs over the coming weeks.”

Over their short yet impactful career, Carmada have releases on world-class dance labels including OWSLA and Mad Decent, with singles like ‘Maybe’ and this year’s ‘Lay It Down’ being churned out at festivals across the globe, including Australia’s own Splendour in the Grass.

Read the full statement below, and stay tuned for the next chapter of Carmada.
