A new year marks a fresh new start, and for Nicki Minaj, that means finally leaving troubled rapper Meek Mill.
Minaj took to Twitter to confirm the rumours that have been swirling for months, stating “to confirm, yes I am single. Focusing on my work & looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon.” While Minaj and Meek were certainly no Jay Z and Beyonce, they did deliver notable love jams including ‘All Eyes On You’ and ‘Buy A Heart’.

Their relationship was thrown in the deep end when Meek began beefing with Minaj’s YMCMB labelmate Drake, resulting in back-and-forth disses which stopped the Internet back in mid 2015. Drake was seemingly crowned the winner of the kerfuffle after releasing ‘Back To Back‘, which contained the oft-quoted “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?” line.
Minaj, caught in the midst of it all, remained relatively silent – but the rumours of trouble in paradise have long plagued the couple since then. With Drake now reportedly courting Jennifer Lopez, could hip-hop have a new power couple with this latest dissolution? Only time will tell.
