Brisbane’s burgeoning hip-hop scene has covered plenty of sonic ground, but here comes something super refreshing from Tee Noah.

Still, we wouldn’t be so quick to throw this one straight into the hip-hop box, because there is a free-spirited ease with which Tee Noah’s debut single floats across sonic borders. ‘Indigo’ is his introduction to the world, and although the Ethiopian musician is only 25 years old, his voice resonates with sage wisdom and experience.

“Indigo is the wolf, a metaphor of the eternal conflict of light and dark, fear and love, alpha and omega. Too often does humankind create monsters, and yet we soon learn that such things have only ever existed as a product of our minds. This marks an important lesson: once we learn that we have power over our monsters, we realise we have the power to destroy them,” he says of the single.

Fittingly, ‘Indigo’ begins with a wolf’s howl before gentle strings command a beat for Tee Noah’s half-rapped, half-crooned delivery. The track’s earnest catchiness is manifested in the ‘Indigo’ hook, which has us excited for what Tee Noah has lined up next.

Feeling a little flustered on this Monday morning? Close your eyes, hit play on ‘Indigo’ and feel the world slow down. Find Tee Noah below, and prepare for more love resonating from the Sunshine State:
