Today, we’re premiering brand new sounds from Sydney’s Inner-West, coming courtesy of rapper Phil Fresh.

Having already worked with fellow emerging hip-hop talents like Kwame and 24 Karat Kev, Phil Fresh has proven that he can spit a verse in his sleep – which is what makes his new single ‘It’s You’ all the more surprising. The track takes a more melodic turn, featuring auto-tuned singing over plush, swirling production that sounds like it was crafted in a throwback pop fantasyland. It’s a testament to the sonic adventurousness of Phil Fresh and his Mozaick Records imprint, who spend equal time crafting eclectic beats and throwing more than memorable parties in suburban Sydney.

The colourful track is the first taste of Phil’s upcoming Excursions of Love EP, arriving on October 10. On the conceptual release, Phil plays the role of two characters, friends Rocky and Angelo who fall in love with the same girl. Accordingly, the EP will also devote equal time to rapping and singing. To celebrate the release, Phil Fresh will be launching the EP live at Goodspace Gallery (upstairs from The Lord Gladstone, Chippendale) on October 6 along with some special guests from his entourage.
