A worthy reinvention.

Yeah, it’s been awhile since The Simpsons has been LOL-worthy, but these latest creations of two local talents might be enough to reignite our interest in the long-running animation series.

German illustrator Zhi-Yun Zhang has made a habit of illustrating musicians in the style of our favourite Springfield residents, including this fusion of Milhouse and Drake in a full OVO tracksuit. Vibes! Now, teaming up with music app Whatslively, Zhang has turned her attention to local-gone-global stars Tkay Maidza and Chet Faker. It’s been a colossal couple of years for both artists: Tkay recently collaborated with Martin Solveig on the bulletproof summer anthem ‘Do It Right‘, while Chet Faker teamed up with Marcus Marr for a disco-tinged Work EP back in March.

The illustrations are also taking IRL form with 30 limited edition t-shirts that will be given away to the public! For your chance to score one, all you have to do is sign up to Whatslively and reply to your welcome email. This is a nice little incentive to get your merch game up to unprecedented levels, so check out the creations below and get them in your wardrobe stat. The competition closes on August 30:

Zhang isn’t exclusive to The Simpsons, as she’s also crafted music hybrids of Garfield and Family Guy as seen below:
