Whether as a member of Leaders of the New School or a solo artist, Busta Rhymes is a rapper who’s transcended sonic borders and generations with his raps.

We’re pretty sure that everybody has tried to colour coordinate their outfit and bedroom after watching the clip for ‘Touch It (Remix),’ while it’s only a few drinks before someone tries to rap a verse from ‘Break Ya Neck.’ Maybe that’s why our longstanding love for Busta comes in all forms, including the naming of a small island in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

As the story goes, Busta Rhymes fan Kevin O’Brien visits and maintains the 40 square metre island, and back in 2009, he took it upon himself to name it Busta Rhymes Island. His reasoning for the title? It’s apparently filled with “rope-swinging, blueberries, and… stuff Busta would enjoy.” Fair call. While O’Brien then took the proposed name to U.S. Board of Geographic Names, it was declined because in order for a piece of land to be named after someone, that person must be deceased for at least five years.

Thankfully, Busta is still very much alive – but that didn’t stop the location from being geotagged as Busta Rhymes Island on Google Maps, which pretty much makes it 100% real in our eyes. And while this happened back in 2009, Twitter has just discovered Busta Rhymes Island, thanks to this Tweet by Atlas Obscurus:

The reactions are pretty grand, and now there’s only one thing left to do: Get us a bloody one way ticket to Busta Rhymes Island:
