We had yarn with Peter Bibby about his new album Grand Champion and the road trip that nearly sent him over the edge.

Driving across the Nullarbor can evoke a range of feelings. Sometimes the drive, which features the 90 mile straight road, can be boring as all hell, and then sometimes it can offer picturesque glimpses of outback Australia that you aren’t likely to come across anywhere else. For rocker Peter Bibby, it represents a gruelling journey that was more like something out a horror flick than a road trip comedy.

The crooner’s nightmare journey from Perth to Melbourne with a cursed van is a perfect example of when everything that could go wrong, goes wrong. With more car problems than you could poke a (dip)stick at, the voyage ended up taking two months instead of two weeks, and as you can see below, there’s still a hint of frustration when he relives the trip.
