For anyone who’s feeling particularly lovelorn today, Sydney hip-hop artist I.E. has your soundtrack sorted with his overcast offering, ‘Separated.’

Having spent the last decade working alongside Manu Crooks, BLESSED, Dopamine and more in Sydney, I.E. presents his latest incarnation, where he’s choosing to remain masked and let the music do all the talking. On ‘Separated,’ he explores past love with his own heartfelt crooning, especially the haunting refrain: “I just wonder how you’ve been since we separated.” The production from iamsolo adds to the pensive tone, with woozy bass dominating the space alongside I.E.’s echoed delivery.

The cinematic film clip was crafted by Jaen Collective and filmed on the Gold Coast, featuring I.E. and his romantic interest embracing on an isolated beach while wearing Kappa trackpants. Ah, the best memories! The expansive shots are placed against neon-lit signs in the nighttime, adding to the whole “leaving heartfelt voicemails at 1:34am on a Saturday morning” vibe. The track will appear on I.E.’s upcoming Road To Paradise EP, where you can expect to see the ‘Separated’ narrative to continue with new singles and visuals.
