The deaths of two rap legends are about to be revisited once more, with USA unveiling the trailer for Unsolved: The Murders Of Tupac And The Notorious B.I.G.

The mystery surrounding the murders of Tupac and Biggie Smalls have long remained in rap folklore, fuelled by the East Coast and West Coast rivalry that dominated rap’s Golden Era in the nineties. While biopics like Notorious and the recent All Eyez On Me have earned mixed reviews and divided audiences, Unsolved will take a slightly different route by focusing on the police investigations following their early deaths.

“The true-crime drama series follows LAPD Detectives Russell Poole (Jimmi Simpson) and Greg Kading (Josh Duhamel) as they work the cases nearly ten years apart, and sheds new light on the demise of Tupac and Biggie Smalls’ friendship that ultimately led to the legendary East Coast vs. West Coast hip hop rivalry,” the show’s synopsis reads.

With the crime drama set to premiere this winter in the United States, the first trailer has now emerged online. While it shows plenty of promise, we’ve seen that anything portraying Tupac and Biggie Smalls has to be approached very carefully and meticulously, with their histories still in dispute to this very date.
