The perfect way to kick off the week.

Hope you’re not feeling hungover or stale from the weekend… The latest track from Sydney duo Jonathan Boulet and Kirsty Tickle AKA Party Dozen is best experienced at full volume through the loudest speakers you have – probably the last thing you want to have for breakfast after a big night, but definitely a tune you want to be hearing on your way up, ya know?

‘Money & The Drugs’ is pure chaos. Like a King Gizzard track mixed through a distortion and delay pedal, but with this feverish energy. As you would expect from Australia’s premier purveyors of experimental “rock”, the inspiration behind the song is fittingly out of the box:

“The first section of this song is inspired by a sound that we heard at the airport pick up zone in Sydney,” Jonathan says. “A small aircraft coming in to land low would project this low bending rumble into the cement car park filling it with resonant frequencies.”

The accompanying clip which was filmed at New Zealand festival Camp A Low Hum by Aaron Streatfeild and Will Agnew, and edited by Boule, captures the frenzied nature of the tune (and the band) with precision.

“‘Money & The Drugs’ features Kirsty really letting it out into her saxophone void. Then it picks up a coupla gears into a rockin’ frenzy” Jonathan says. ‘It’s one of our most fun songs to play live. But sometimes too much of a good thing can land you in deep water. Sometimes this song gets away from us.”

The tune joins ‘Wake in Might’ and ‘The Big Man Upstairs’ in featuring on their forthcoming album Crime In Australia which is due out September 6th and is available for pre-order right here.

Party Dozen will be joining Amyl and The Sniffers on tour throughout Europe, but before then we can catch them at the below dates. Don’t you want a bit more of ‘Money & The Drugs’ in your life? Yes, you do.
