A few months back, it was revealed that Japan’s favourite tourist activity, real life Mario Kart, would be coming to Australia.

Now, we have official confirmation that Mushroom Racing is actually happening, but not quite as you know it. While the Japanese version lets you zoom alongside real traffic in the hart of Tokyo, it comes as no surprise that Australia’s version won’t take place on actual streets. Organisers are yet to reveal the location, but they have stressed that it won’t be on our regular roads, while the activity will allow you to complete ’20 laps,’ suggesting that it’s a track.

Still, if the idea of donning a Luigi costume and riding around in a small automobile excites you, then you’ll be pleased to hear that Mushroom Racing tickets are on sale now. Each ticket is $85 costume hire, transport to and from the CBD, and a snack! Snacks always help. The racing will be going down on Sundays in September, October and November, with five sessions running per day.

There’ll also be prizes, one of which is a cool $1000 cash. Get more information and your tickets right here.
