Very impressive in the current climate…

Although it’s had one of the toughest ever openings for a Hollywood blockbuster, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has managed to help reopen cinemas and strike gold, generating over $250,000 million AUD at the global box office. Although the U.S. was Tenet’s main target market and was expected to be the primary source of ticket sales, Tenet has only pulled in $29.5 million USD (around $40 million AUD) in the U.S., with the remainder of the film’s revenue being generated overseas.

The news is surely a sigh of relief for Nolan and the cast, with the movie garnering mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. Attaining a B Cinemascore and overall 79% overall positive, it seems many fans are in agreement concerning the impossible-to-follow plot, odd sound design (A common factor of Christopher Nolan movies, it’s literally impossible to hear what characters are saying at times) and at times over-ambitious nature of the film. Yet, it could be all of the above which is prompting cinema-goers to see the movie multiple times, in an attempt to understand what is Christopher Nolan’s most puzzling movie yet (I know for sure I’ll be going back for a second viewing). Here’s hoping it continues to sell and do well across the world, cinemas definitely need all the business they can get. Check the final trailer below.
