Actor Jonah Hill’s feature debut, MID90s is already being compared to Larry Clark’s 1995 film Kids.

For those of us who have watched Superbad in the last couple of months, it’s hard to believe that the chubby and foul-mouthed lead Jonah Hill is now 34 years old. Take a second and look back at all of the huge films he’s been in and legendary directors he’s worked with and it starts to add up.

With directors like Tarantino, Scorsese, the Cohen brothers and more having recognised his talents in front of the camera, we have the chance to test his skills as writer/director of his newest endeavour, the coming-of-age skateboarding film MID90s – and it looks like he will be passing with flying colours.

From the nostalgia-drenched trailer we can see the film is set in mid-90’s (duh) LA and follows a young protagonist played by Sunny Suljic (The Killing Of A Sacred Deer) as he looks to find his identity and escape his bully older brother by running around with a group of semi-vagrant skateboarders, all set to the sounds of a 90’s hip-hop mashup.

MID90’s is set to be released in the US October 19, though there’s no word on when it will be hitting Australian screens.
