The Oscar-winning Texan gets his hands dirty in trailer for new film White Boy Rick which stars Richie Merritt.

With the trailer for Yann Demage’s new crime/drama film White Boy Rick having just been released, fans can now get a first glimpse at Matthew McConaughey’s role as the father of real-life teenage drug kingpin, Richard Wershe (played by Richie Merritt) who was imprisoned for life after being caught in possession of over seven kilos of cocaine in the mid 1980’s.

The real Wershe who was also working as an informant, has always maintained he copped the brunt of an undercover police sting that involved high-level corruption in the Detroit area at the time, remains in jail currently serving an un-maxed sentence.

With an air of his Dallas Buyers Club swagger about him, McConaughey slides into the role of greasy deadbeat dad all too well and the gritty setting of a declining Detroit provides a fitting backdrop to the edgy-looking film. And hey, let’s face it – any trailer that also incorporates ‘I Feel Love’ by Donna Summer has got our vote.
