On the promo circuit for the latest season of Fargo, legendary comedian Chris Rock brought the heat for his Saturday Night Live monologue over the weekend. Back in the iconic SNL studio (with various social distancing regulations in place) Rock really had to dig deep to bring the laughs, amongst the overall strangeness of the situation. It’s fair to say he definitely did, bringing his signature brand of savagery like only he can.
Performing to an audience of first responders, Rock started the monologue with a quick shot at Trump, stating “President Trump is in the hospital with COVID and I just want to say, my heart goes out… to COVID.”
From there, he riffed on everything ranging from relationships to the U.S. political process and the state of the Senate and Congress. He also snuck in a hilarious Chris Farley joke in that’s impossible not to laugh at.
But Rock switched things up a bit to close out the seven-minute monologue, quoting James Baldwin, writer of If Beale Street Could Talk, stating “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” Damn right, check the full monologue below.
