If you’re a fan of The Simpsons, then you’ll know that the longstanding animated series loves a good musician cameo. Over the past 29 seasons, they’ve hosted The Ramones, Ludacris, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elton John, 50 Cent and many more, but arguably the best guest appearance came courtesy of West Coast rap legends, Cypress Hill.
The trio appeared in the Homerpalooza episode from Season 7, where Homer joins a touring festival called Hullabalooza as a freak talent who gets repeatedly shot with a cannonball. Amongst the musical acts are Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth (who eat Peter Frampton’s giant watermelon) and Cypress Hill, who jam out to a surprising remix of their hit ‘Insane In The Brain’ with the London Symphony Orchestra.
However, that classic scene – which has been ingrained in the cherished memories of all Simpsons fans – may now become a reality. Cypress Hill member B-Real is currently in the country as a member of the supergroup Prophets of Rage, and in an interview with Music Feeds, he says that the group are looking to make their animated cameo with the London Symphony Orchestra a reality. He explains that they’re currently “figuring out how to make [it] work, to play our Black Sunday album together.”
“We don’t have a date, it’s still tentative, we’re trying to work out all the details,” B-Real explained. “It’s quite an endeavour to have [London Symphony Orchestra] learn the songs and actually figure out where the venue and all that shit’s going to go. But that is something we are trying to figure out.”
We hope to God that this actually happens, because while Black Sunday might be close to perfect, a few violins and cellos might take it to the next level. Fingers crossed that this eventuates.
