What a week, right?

As the world becomes less and less predictable, it’s nice to know that we can always rely on one thing: Fridays mean new music releases. And there’s no better way to escape the outside noise than to blast some fresh tunes, toast your mates (even if it’s a virtual cheers) and forget about your worries.

We’ve teamed up with Jim Beam to make that a little easier for you, with five brand new – we’re talking less than 24hrs old – tracks for you to wrap your ears around this weekend. Check it out below:

Didirri – ‘The Critic’

Indie-folk crooner Didirri has come to drag you out of any Friday funk you’re in with this uplifting number that we guarantee will have you smiling from ear to ear. Also, loving the use of the treadmill in the studio for the clip (directed by Peter Hume) which captures the playful innocence of the tune perfectly. On top of this, Didirri has announced that his much-awaited second EP Sold For Sale will be out September 25th. Rejoice!

Manu Crooks – ‘BASTARDS’

Nothing like a bit of fire for your Friday and Manu Crooks has delivered exactly that with a taste from his forthcoming project Mood Forever II (due later this year) in the form of ‘Bastards’. The creepy black and white video nails the darkwave vibes of the track perfectly, and it’s definitely one we’ll be busting out when things start to get a little tipsy tonight.

Papaya Tree – ‘Flowergirl’

Any day that we get new music from Inner-West rockers Papaya Tree is a good day. ‘Flowergirl’ tackles fleeting love with a typically symphonic approach from the lads who seem to evolve musically with every track. They’ll be launching this one with a special night of shows at The Vanguard on August 30th -tickets and info here.

Purple Disco Machine, Sophie & The Giants – ‘Hypnotized’

So this one technically dropped a little while back, but the clip just came out yesterday afternoon which has completely re-ignited our passion for this absolute sizzler of a track. If there is a Friday arvo track that is going to get you in the mood to boogie, it’s this one!

Childe – ‘Just Me’

Fresh from the land of pork pies and greasy spoons, we have ‘Just Me’ from British artist Childe, which also comes with news that his debut EP is on its way early next year. If you’re cutting people out of your life right now, you should be able to relate to this one. “‘Just Me’ is about loneliness and feeling isolated in a busy world,”Childe says. “Fake friends and false conversations. I need to make sure I’m around the people who know me best or I can really lose it.”
