Could Franz Ferdinand be making their way to Australia for a certain mega-festival in July?

The frontman of the band, Alex Kapranos spoke with Music Feeds this morning about the band’s recently-released album Always Ascending – and of course, he was questioned about Franz Ferdinand’s upcoming Australian tour plans.

“They haven’t been confirmed yet, so I can’t share them with you just now but all I can say is soon,” he said. “There is something definitely happening. All I can say is that it’s really exciting, we can’t wait to do it! But I don’t think I can announce it yet I’m sorry, I know that’s really lame.”

“But yeah! It’s been ages and we didn’t manage to get over with [previous album] Right Thoughts, Right Words, [Right Action] which was such a disappointment. I can’t wait to get back over, it’s going to be a particularly special visit this time. It’s going to definitely be one to remember,” he continued.

It’s easy to see why Franz Ferdinand would be a perfect fit for Splendour In The Grass, with their highly danceable brand of indie having run strong since they broke into global spotlight with ‘Take Me Out’ in 2004. Furthermore, as Music Feeds points out, the band have international touring commitments up to July 15th, which just happens to be a few days before Splendour commences. Is it a coincidence, or are the stars aligning?

Add Franz Ferdinand to the list of Splendour’s possible acts alongside Kendrick Lamar and Arctic Monkeys, and just in case they do come, learn every word to Always Ascending below:
