If ‘Planet B’ and ‘Self Immolate’ are anything to go by, it should be pretty heavy too.

Melbourne psych/metal/rock/blues/electro/prog outfit (they’re getting harder to define as the years go on) King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have taken to Facebook this morning to share the title and track listing from their latest album, Infest The Rats’ Nest. The record, which will be their second for the year, following April’s Fishing For Fishies, and is said to be the closest they’ll get to pure thrash metal.

As reported on Stereogum, the record was recorded by three out of the seven members, with Frontman Stu Mackenzie and guitarist Joey Walker sharing guitar and bass duty while Michael Cavanagh handles the drums.

“The A-side of the album is set in the near future and is about real shit going on right now – especially ecological disaster,” Mackenzie says of the record. “We’ve got a lot of things to fear. The B-side tells the story of a group of rebels who are forced to leave Planet Earth and try to settle on Venus. I spend a lot of time thinking about the future of humanity and the future of Planet Earth. Naturally, these thoughts seep into the lyrics.”

Infest The Rat’s Nest herewill be out August 16th, with pre-sale available from Tuesday at 9AM . Check out the full tracklist and latest single ‘Self-Immolate’, and head here for tickets to their June/July national tour:
