Last weekend, Listen Out kicked off its national tour on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Melbourne.

While we’re proud Sydneysiders through and through, we weren’t about to wait a whole week for our turn to see Travis Scott, ASAP Ferg, RÜFÜS and more – so we packed our bags for a mini-vacay to Melbourne for an interstate Listen Out experience. We rounded up our little party crew consisting of our pals Elijah, Kristina and Riley to head to the festival with Carlton Dry – see the photo diary below and prepare to do it all again this Saturday. Our bodies are ready:

We round up the crew nice and early for the short flight down to Melbourne. Shouts to the Jetstar squadron for their ample range of carbonated beverages and detailed emergency demonstrations, you’re the real MVPs.

We land in the 3000 and head straight to Captain Baxter’s rooftop for the Carlton Dry Listen Out pre-party. It’s picnic vibes aplenty with strong tunes, a grassy surface to plant your ass on and beers flowing freely. The next time somebody tells you that Melbourne always has terrible weather, show them this picture and then remind them that they’re an idiot.

Melbourne friends! Running into our good pal Sarah with a crispy Carlton Dry to boot. Cheers!

Punters getting silly in the photobooth. The funniest part is that you could wear all of the above items to a festival and nobody would bat an eyelid. Ridiculous costumes are the new regular kit in 2016, stay tuned to LWA for more #FreeFashionTips in the near future.

Social media mogul, swag lord, male model, the owner of Bondi’s most defined slick back and a DJ – is there anything that Elijah Scadden can’t do? Here he is delivering the groove and the funk at the pre-party.

A little pre-festival ping-pong never hurt anybody.

After a picturesque meander to Catani Gardens, we make it into Listen Out to see Melbourne’s own multi-instrumentalist queen Tash Sultana stealing the show in the early afternoon.

Touch the sky.

If you know what’s good for you, you’ll see Anderson.Paak live and he’ll blow your mind away. Extra points for the extremely strong shirt.

lwa-11

The tunes are so nice today that the Melbourne police force even participate in an on-duty turn-up. This cop has tattoos so you know he’s cool.

lwa-12

Baauer’s AV team getting the memo and flying the Australian flag for some relatable video content.

lwa-13

Now for the best part of any festival: Sitting down, preferably next to some sort of heating device.

lwa-14

ASAP Ferg coming out with the middle finger and this luxurious coat which is the fashion equivalent of a middle finger to your wardrobe.

lwa-15

Old mate displaying unmatched dedication to his Snapchat game – Sending grainy footage of the Trap Lord to his mates who didn’t get a ticket, poor bastards.

lwa-16

Trap shoulders in full effect for a wobbly set from Jauz.

lwa-17

Carlton Dry keeping us on our dancing feet all night before the big one…

lwa-18

Up close and personal with homegrown sensations RÜFÜS. It feels like the whole damn festival has been waiting for this one, a packed house as smooth house tunes blessed the spring sky and we all sang along obnoxiously to ‘You Were Right’.

lwa-19

We relocate Elijah and the festival comes to an end. Sad faces all round. Until next year, Listen Out!
