Tour Compatibility Test: Flowertruck & Big White
Smooth sailing or sinking ship?
Music
Words by Harry Webber October 15, 2019

With a run of shows together just around the corner, we checked in with Big White and Flowertruck to see how well the two acts are suited as touring buddies.

Sydney record labels Spunk and Dinosaur City have been hard at it recently, announcing just over a week ago that they would be joining forces (and rosters) for a tour that is a little different. The ‘Hometowns Tour’ will see artists from each label return to the places they grew up to not only play shows, but also talk at their former high schools about music.

Hitting 10 regional locations, the tour will see 20+ acts take the stage over November and December, and includes Coalchella festival in Wombarra that will mark 20 years of Spunk records. Significantly, the tour also means the return of Sydney’s Flowertruck, who haven’t played live together in over a year. For those of us who are massive fans of their 2018 record Mostly Sunny, this is extremely good news. Joining Flowertruck are Sydney stalwarts and labelmates Big White who’s latest release – their EP Heaven’s Unlikely – has been gracing earholes around the country, since July.

They’re two of the biggest drawcards for the ‘Hometowns’ tour, but how compatible are Flowertruck and Big White as touring partners? We’ve devised a questionnaire with more science than Breaking Bad to put them to the test. Check out their answers below; Flowertruck’s answers are in BLUE, Big White’s answers are in RED… And don’t forget to get yourself along to the ‘Hometowns’ tour (info here).

OUR VERDICT:

To quote Adam Levine of Maroon 5, “It’s not always rainbows and butterflies, it’s compromise that moves us along, yeah.” Meeting up for a sausage roll from a local bakery and bonding over a Young Henry’s or two is key to a harmonious tour. *In Dr Phil voice* You need to listen to eachother. God bless.
