NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is hard at work laying out a plan for the NBA League to resume the 2019-2020 season, and it is reported that he will lay it out to the Board of Governors this week in an attempt to get the ball rolling.

The plan is said to be a 22 team restart overview, including the 16 teams that would have been in the playoffs when the season was suspended in March and six additional teams, with a play-in tournament for the No. 8 seed in both conferences. The games are expected to take place at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida and if the proposal is successful the League would restart on July 31st.

“If the ninth seed is more than four games behind the eighth seed, the eighth seed earns the playoff spot; if the ninth seed is four or fewer games behind, then the eighth and ninth seed will enter a play-in tournament that is double-elimination for the eighth seed and single-elimination for ninth,” Shans Charania of The Athletic and Stadium said.

There have been various different discussions regarding restarting the season, which included a scenario where the league would skip straight to the playoffs with the top eight teams in each conference. Another included bringing back all 30 teams to finish a regular season with a play-in tournament.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the six teams that aren’t currently in the top 16 that will play in Orlando include the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, as well as the Washington Wizards.
